Savannah Regional Film Commission

The Savannah region and the entire country continued to feel the impacts of the 2023 Writers Guild of America and the SAF-AFTRA strikes in 2024 with a decline in productions in the region for the year. This year’s direct spent totaled to $6,948,380 million for film and television productions. Despite the challenges, Savannah managed to host several productions, including commercials and a high-profile project for HBO.

One standout success was Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2, which premiered in 2024 and showcased Savannah’s versatility as a filming location. The production featured iconic local landmarks, such as the Pooler Chamber of Commerce, and brought significant economic benefits to the area through job creation and local business support. Savannah’s appeal as a cultural and artistic destination was further recognized this year, as the city made it into the top 15 potential host cities for Sundance.

In October, Walker Dalton, Savannah Regional Film Commissions’ executive director, was appointed by Gov. Brian Kemp to the Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Advisory Council.

Savannah has once again secured its place among the top three in MovieMaker magazine’s “Best Places to Live and Work as a Moviemaker: Small Cities and Towns” list, ranking No. 3 for 2024. This marks the 10th consecutive year Savannah has been in the top three, including four No. 1 rankings in 2020, 2019, 2017, and 2016.

The Savannah Regional Film Commission continued to market the advantages of filming in the Savannah region by attending several film festivals including Festival de Cannes, Sundance Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival and the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. In December, the Savannah Economic Development Authority’s board of directors unanimously approved an increase to Savannah’s local filming incentives, reinforcing SEDA’s and SRFC’s commitment to building the city’s production future.
